Alluvial Flats
These are poorly drained flatlands formed by fine sediments, usually occurring as transition zones between sloughs and low ridges or between backswamps and lower edges of levees. Thus they remain flooded for a shorter time than backswamps. Sweetgum, overcup oak, laurel oak and some cypress dwell in flats. Alluvial Flats can be found between Williamston and the Conine camping platform.
