- Coffee and goodies provided at 8
a.m. in beautiful restored grist mill. Bring a water bottle to
fill, if you'd like.
- Drop off your boat at River
Falls Park in Weldon no later than 8:30 a.m.
- Drive your vehicle to the end
point in Halifax & ride the shuttle back to the starting point
in Weldon.
- Paddle trip is 9 miles,
beginning at 9 a.m. until 12:30 to 1:00 p.m.
- Paddlers are provided with a
delicious Brunswick Stew and Cornbread lunch in Historic
Halifax. Veggie stew is avaiaable, too. Please indicate choice
on registration form.
- Seating is limited so please
bring a chair or blanket.
- A lunch-time raffle will
announce the winner of a beautiful Canadian canoe (last minute
tickets available before lunch.)
- An additional $5 will get you a
wind tasting at Southern Heritage Woodworks on Kind Street with
local vintner Alex McLennan of Ventosa Plantation Vineyards from
2 -5 p.m., as well as live entertainment by ChamberGrass, our
banjo and bass duet.
- Browse the historic buildings,
museum and downtown shoppes at Halifax throughout the afternoon.
- A chili and hotdog dinner will
be available in the town park just off King Street from 5-7 p.m
- Paddlers get a special tour time
for the exciting wagon ride on Spirits of Independence Ghost
Walk at 6 p.m. (Tickets $6/Adults, $4 Students. "New" stories
about "old" residents...
Stay in Halifax County overnight to
enjoy the many fantastic attractions in the areas including Sylvan
Heights Waterfowl Park, Roanoke Canal Museum and Trail, Medoc
Mountain State Park, Tillery History House and more....
