Trails has recognized the exceptional work of Roanoke River Partners
(RRP) with an award for public advocacy for trails in North
Carolina.RRP was awarded the
prize at the 17th National Trails Symposium held in Austin, Texas in
October, 2004. The award noted that RRP's unique system of water
trails and camping platforms "make this wilderness area accessible
to visitors like never before."
"We were thrilled to receive this
recognition," said RRP director, Cindy Tripp. "Our organization is
continuing its development of this exciting system for the
enjoyment of all paddler/campers and the benefit of the five-county
area we serve. We appreciate our nomination by the N.C.
Trails Program, as well as their continued support."
RRP was nominated for the award by
Ann Coughlin, coastal regional trails specialist for the N.C. Trails
Program.
