We are so excited about our upcoming
Rosenwald Reunion
and we want you to join us," says Carol Shields, Roanoke River
Partners volunteer.
"As you may know, we have been working on a project to preserve
the
Rosenwald School in Hamilton, NC.and bring it back to life as a
community Center.
Upon completion, we intend for this building to become a community
center and a place to tell the remarkable story of Rosenwald
schools.
Additionally, it will serve as a River Center for Roanoke
River Partners and as a stimulus for local/regional economic
development.
To this end, we are having our first large group meeting/celebration
of this project on September 11 at 2:00 pm (at the Hamilton Fire
Station).
This event will give us the opportunity to bring folks who know the
Rosenwald story together with others who are supportive of
Hamilton, the Roanoke River region and rural economic development in
Eastern NC.
After introductions, we will be telling our RRP story which includes
our vision for this project and we will share the local Rosenwald
information that we have gathered so far.
There will also be an opportunity for those in attendance to share
their stories. Folks with any old photos or articles are encouraged
to bring them.
After the program we are planning to have some fabulous food, some
live music and some nice souvenirs of the project and the day.
Please
forward this
flier/invitation to anyone/groups that you think might have
an interest.
Everyone is
welcome to attend – we just ask for the favor of a reply so that we
can plan for the group."

Please help us spread the word!
Invite a

at 2:00.
We look forward to sharing this exciting time together! |
