(Editor's clarification: "Catfish Castle" is not a takeout and is private property.   Continue just a little farther to the Cypress Grill,  which does mark a public takeout.)

I wanted to write a "Thank You" to you all.  It was a wonderful experience.  I have done the entire length of the Everglades.  I would put this on a par with that.  This note is just to express my thanks for all of the time and effort that you have put into making this a reality.

The platforms are wonderful. They are excellent.  On a par with the nicest that I have used anywhere.  Of course, I was there during the week before the season really gets started so I was by myself.  It was luxurious to have the platforms to myself.  I suspect that once you are discovered that you will not have enough platforms and facilities for demand.

Troop 442 in Salisbury, NC managed to get 8 people on a platform this weekend. I think we could have fit two more.  We had a great time and will be back. Thanks for all the hard work!

I just wanted to drop you a quick note and let you know that our Scout troop had a wonderful experience down through Devil's Gut last weekend. You have a gem of a product in your neck of the woods.

Thanks again for sending me the article in the Wildlife magazine too.

Thank you so much for your concern.  We were actually at Barred Owl Roost the night of the big storm and had quite an exciting night.  We had just climbed into our tents and then saw flashes of lightning in the distance so quickly got out and tied everything down more securely just in time for the winds and rain.  The water at the platform rose more than a foot which was exciting and then after the storm we listened to the beavers and owls all night.

We had a wonderful trip and I will take more time to comment in more detail when I return to my office next week.  We hope to return again next year

RRP,  Thanks For the wonderful experience of the Barred Owl Roost. We just spent 2 nights 9/6 and 9/7/02 and had a great time. The fishing was great mainly Catfish and Bowfin but still a lot of fun. The area in which you picked for the platforms could not have been any better. I look forward to the next trip out.

Thanks Rick Heald
